Yay for three day weekends!! Jody and I are headed back from a quick getaway. Each year we try to sneak away to one of our favorite places, Panama City Beach, FL.
It’s always incredibly relaxing (I try to stay mostly unplugged) but the time goes by much too quickly. Even though we went on a mini-vacay, I still managed to get my workouts in this week.
Monday : AM – Yoga, seated hip openers. PM – 60 minutes cycling (13.85 miles, hill program), 30 minutes weight machines – shoulders, triceps, biceps, and obliques; 12 pushups.
Tuesday: Speed work. 7 miles with 6 Yassos at 3:56 each (treadmill run – bleh).
Wednesday: AM – Yoga, Sun Salutations. PM – kettlebell workout; 16 pushups.
Thursday: 5 mile run with 3 miles at marathon pace.
Friday: 22 pushups (finished week 1 of the 100 pushup challenge).
Saturday: 20 mile run. *BAM*
Sunday: Nada, zip, zilch, nothing other than eat way too much and be lazy.
All-in-all, I did pretty well with my workouts. I got most of my training runs in except for Monday’s 4 mile one; my foot was hurting pretty badly on so I skipped it. See, I really am trying to listen to my aches and pains and not push it. I also wanted to get in two kettlebell workouts but only managed one. My hubby was already looking at me crazy with all the workout stuff I packed, I figured I better not try to add a kettlebell.
Other exciting news is that I didn’t die during the 20 mile run – my first one since October! I was pretty nervous since I was running it solo and in an unfamiliar place but it turned out just fine. And my foot held up fairly well, too. It’s pretty sore right now so I think it may be time to head to a doctor. This week is a cut back week in my training (only a 14 mile long run) so I’m going to see how the foot holds up and go from there.
I hope y’all had a great weekend, too! I can’t wait to share a few of the pictures from this weekend. 🙂 I want to leave you with two of my favorite Martin Luther King, Jr. quotes. I hope you’ll find them both as empowering and thought provoking as I do:
“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
Question: When you go on vacation, do you still get your workouts in? Or do you just embrace the vacation attitude?
Nice workouts last week! People always call me crazy but I love to workout on vacation, it’s the only time I don’t have to rush to fit it in, so much time to do what I want 🙂 there’s something about running and biking at the beach that makes it so much better!
Thanks, Katie! I totally agree with you on the lack of scheduling. It’s so nice to just do what you want, when you want – especially on the beach! 🙂
Nice job on your workouts, Gina! I love seeing the kettlebell and bike ones sprinkled in the mix. 🙂 When I go on vacation, I try to complete my planned workouts, but they usually end up being shorter/less intense, which is fine. All sweat is good sweat, right? 😉
Nice work, lady! I like how you do small stuff throughout the day instead of just saying you ran or something. That’s what I tend to do. Even if I do little things, I don’t think they count or something. Good reminder that every bit counts!
Thanks, Amanda! The little thing totally count and add up during the day. 🙂 Sometimes it seems like mini workouts throughout the day are the only way to get stuff done.
STELLAR run week miss!! Way to go on the push up challenge too. I tried #plankaday, but failed to keep up with it after 2 days. oopsie. I suppose I’ll try again with a random plank streak 🙂 No reason not to!
Gah, get on the planks, lady!! I say that knowing that I really should get on the planking wagon. 😉
I tweak my workouts on vacation…instead of tempo ill do easy….enjoy the sights 😉 shocking, you were in my state! Le sigh lol
I know, if only you were in the panhandle! Some day, I tell ya.
That is a pretty view you guys had! For vacation, I do get in workouts, its nice to explore new places by going on a run! But I do still indulge a little, all about balance!
That’s awesome, Nicole! I love that you indulge on vacay. Unfortunately, I think I indulged a bit too much. Tonight’s run definitely got off to a sluggish start.
At least you went! Not all runs are ‘great’ runs anyway…but when that happens I have to give myself credit for getting out there (hint hint, give yourself credit too!) And you are dealing with a bum foot…so even if you didn’t go on a run, I am TOTALLY understanding
Dumb bum foot… I need it to hold up until the 24th of Feb. Then it has my permission to act a fool! Thanks for the reminder, I will definitely give myself credit. 🙂 I hate I didn’t see the tape suggestion until a few minutes ago. I tried to stay {mostly} unplugged this weekend so I’m just now catching up on everything. My e-mails scared me. Tomorrow I get caught up on my fav blogs. *cough cough* 🙂
No worries! Always good to go ‘off the grid’ once in a while since there is more to life 🙂 Fingers crossed for your foot!
🙂 Totally!
I love working out on vacation because there isn’t a stress for getting to work or somewhere else you know? I’m so jealous too (as I sit here cuddled with my personal heater LOL).
Vacation workouts = low stress. Low stress = happy Gina! Sorry about the cold, I’ll try to push some sunshine and warmth your way.
great job listening to that bod, lady!! ❤ you rock! awesome MLK quotes also! i hope you have a super fantastic day! xxoo
Thanks, Jenna! I hope you had a great day, too!
20 miler? GET IT GIRL!! You’re awesome and I know you’re going to rock your marathon!
Thanks, love!!! We’ll in 4ish weeks how well the marathon goes. I’m getting pretty excited about it, that’s for sure. 🙂
Holy crap your Yassos are so fast. I forget how speedy you are. Great week of workouts!
We’re totally on the same level, Abby. Hello 4:30 marathons in 2013!!
Love that you’re trying the push-ups again! Keep up the awesome work, girl!
